Merton Schools PFI involves new build extensions, refurbishment, alterations and backlog maintenance of six school sites. The aim
is to provide accommodation of a suitable size and standard to assist Merton reorganise its teaching from the current three tier system
to a two tier Primary and Secondary system and mpg are carrying out M & E quantity surveying services with the buil
ding services Contractor Bishopsford Community School is a co-educational comprehensive school which has been enlarged and a new Sports Hall has been included in the development
Mitcham Vale is a new secondary school on the site of the existing Eastfields High School. Mitcham Vale will provide places for 1,200 students aged 11-16 years.
The adjacent Bushey First School is to be incorporated into the existing Raynes Park site to form Raynes Park Community Secondary School. Refurbishment work has already been completed at Bushey and the existing Raynes
Park technology block has been extensively refurbished to include a New Autism Teaching Block.
Refurbishment of the existing Ricards Lodge buildings, including an extension to the dining hall and a new food technology extension. New build works at the school include a new sports hall adjacent to the existing hall and a new two-storey teaching block on the site of the existing tennis courts. Six new tennis courts have already been completed.
Rutlish School is being enlarged and in addition there will be a base for 10 students with moderate learning difficulties.
Tamworth Manor is currently being enlarged and in addition, the school will have a base for 20 students with a specific language disorder. The existing buildings are to be substantially refurbished or demolished. This will make way for two new two-storey teaching blocks, one incorporating a new front entrance to the school, a new sports hall and a single
storey extension to the existing science block. |
