Construction commenced in 2002 and the new building will provide a modern, state of the art health care facility with 17,000 square metres of new accommodation on two floors, which will provide improvements for patients, staff and visitors. Both inside and out it will be a facility of which the City of Gloucester can be proud. mpg carried out quantity surveying services for the main contractor on this site.

The New Building will feature:

  • A new Emergency Department including an extended X-Ray Department
     
  • Trauma and Orthopaedics Fracture Clinic and Plaster Room.
     
  • An Outpatients Block
     
  • Specialist cluster of: Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery and Orthodontics, dermatology, ENT and Hearing Services
     
  • Combined surgical and medical outpatients departments, Urology, Pain Clinic
     
  • Therapies and Clinical Support: pain management service, speech therapy, health psychology, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, podiatry and orthotics
     
  • Oral and Facial Surgery and Orthodontics
     
  • Endoscopy/ Bronchoscopy suite
     
  • Children’s Centre including ward, day care and outpatient services
     
  • New Coronary Care Unit and cardiology wards
     
  • Cardiology Investigation
     
  • A cafeteria and shop
     
  • A patient information room
     
  • A shop for patients, staff and visitors
