mpg carried out quantity surveying services and cost analysis on Idea Stores Whitechapel which is a very modern library, learning and information service project which opened in September 2005. Located on Whitechapel Road, in front of Sainsbury's, it is a highly accessible and transparent new building.

The store, which has replaced Whitechapel and Stepney libraries, will be open 7 days a week, providing the following services:

• More books, CDs and DVDs - over 17,000 new items as well as stock from the existing libraries
• An extensive range of newspapers and magazines
• A dedicated reference and information library
• A children's library
• A cafe
• Free internet access
• A range of state-of-the-art learning spaces and classrooms
• A creche for the children of learners
• Specialist spaces for teaching dance and complementary therapies
